Surprisingly epic and unique sounding drums made with big plastic water jugs.
$25.00
What happens when you lock two sound designers in a space with five water jugs, five microphones, a laptop, and an audio interface? Pure #$!@ing magic, that’s what! With oodles of round robins, four different articulation styles, and a dynamic range equipped to shake things up, you’re going to love this instrument… It’s a new angle on the concept of “epic drumming”.
Four articulation styles are mapped out equally over four octaves: Hand (muted), Hand (ring out), Timpani Mallets, and Sticks.
Five jug sizes that have been individually sampled: Soprano, Tenor, Alto, Bass, and Contrabass.
We recorded these suckers with three mic positions: Far (stereo), Mid (stereo), and a super-close mic placed practically inside the drum. You can adjust all three independently to get exactly the sound you want!
Our custom arpeggiator, beautifully scripted by Andreas Lemke (the scripting genius behind almost everything we do), is super fun to play with. It can help you inject energy into your music in seconds! Humanization features will keep your patterns from sounding like computerized mechadrums. And a full preset system gives you the ability to create and save your own arp settings, along with 50 factory presets for your inspiration.
This one’s fun to play, just try not to waste too much time noodling around with it.
We gathered a bunch of different sized plastic water jugs and selected 5 to sample that we thought scaled in tone and pitch quite nicely. The distinctive pitch you hear is actually the natural pitch of each jug. Fun stuff, for real :)
Choose from 4 different styles of striking: Hand (muted), Hand (ring out), Timpani Mallets, and Sticks – each articulation sampled on each drum for every performance.
